CPS District-level Readiness
Research from Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago and CASEL
(Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning)
shows that the key indicator of academic metrics is student readiness.
This can be measured by a students mood + energy level.
Readiness drives performance.
Class Catalyst drives readiness.

Monitoring Student Readiness
Students check in and share how they are feeling through simple emoji-based icons and private student-to-teacher messaging. With every check-in, students have the option to write a note to a trusted adult.

Class Catalyst Readiness Analysis
Focusing on supporting the students in greatest need will greatly improve overall readiness. Data shows that when over 10% of students are Not Ready it means we need systematic supports for all students.
Opportunity for Improvement
Students are saying that their biggest challenge is being tired. Having the opportunity for the students to do practices focused on waking up and being alert is crucial These are things we help with.

Watch Word Alerts
Watch words are keywords in student notes that notify staff in real time. Alerts triggered by Not Ready students go out to all staff connected with the student to be able to provide proactive support. Out of the 125k check-ins, there were only 1,200 alerts. That’s less than 1% of student notes.
